Man. That sounds exactly like my M17x! It's totally worth $4,000 if you're looking for an expensive paper weight. If you're going to get the M17x, I suggest not getting the Raid configuration. It's more trouble than it's worth, and it will cause problems. Raid configs have been known to crap out, and cause the computer to stop functioning.

That's the problem I have with my M17x, and Dell hasn't lifted a finger to fix it. If you DO get it, DON'T get the Raid configuration.

Yeah, from the prices I've seen around the Internet, laptops with that spec go for $3k to $4k. And since it's a name brand such as Alienware, I'm not surprised. That thing should last you for a VERY long time.

If I were you, I would cheapskate it and wait for a huge sale or promotion.

Yeah its a good laptop, but I'd have a hard time shelling over that much for a top of the line laptop, it'll be a mediocre laptop after a year and obsolete in 3-4.. I would get a similarly speced desktop if you can, save a lot of money

Listen I seen a upsetting coverage about "NEW" laptops and the question was "Whats the Average Lifespan of NEW Laptop?" I know mine are NOT new so _ guessed 5-10 years.. THREE!!
Yes 3 Sucky Years!! My point is NOT all rated 3 years but thats a TOTAL Average and thats NOT cool.
I think a agency called CONSUMER REPORTS does Testing and confirmation on this stuff. All I am hoping you'll do is to look that machine up and see if that exceeds the average.. WHY Pay a average of $1250 a YEAR to "rent till it dies"!? This was covered on Nationawide TV about 6 months ago or less. I found the facilities website: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/index .htm

While intelligible, they said my voice didn't sound quite natural--to the point that if I didn't identify myself, it might not be clear it was me calling. The Illusion has a 1GHz Qualcomm Hummingbird processor, which certainly isn't the fastest on the market, but it's definitely acceptable. Apps loaded quickly, and there wasn't any navigational lag.
