Can my laptop emit an internet signal?

To explain I have an internet card to receive internet on my laptop wherever I am. Now if I purchased a USB antenna for my laptop and connected it along with the internet card would it create a outbound wireless signal?? (Or are the antennas only made to receive signals?) Any help would be appreciated.

It is called a transceiver. Means it transmits and receives.

Your internet card (or any networking device) already SENDS and RECEIVES signals. This is the reason you upload and download files. You don't need another USB antenna to send.
