I have a Dell XPS 1340 (no longer sold) but have to use my only usb port for my wireless adapter (laptops built in isn't compatible with my netgear router)
how can i get extra usb ports?

Go to just about any office supply store and tell them what you need. They stock these like they stock paper. Tell them you want one with a external power supply. Many companies will sell you a 4 port hub and all the power to run all the devices comes from the one USB port you connected the hub to.
