I used to have problems with my NAT around 2 years ago. It was always strict. Then I called XBOX and they just said I needed to restart my router. Then DING it went open and has stayed like that for 2 years.
Now the problem has randomly occured again. My mum rearranged my room and now my NAT is strict again. It is closer to the router then it was last time. The router is downstairs and my xbox is right above it upstairs. I have tried restarting it and it doesn't work. I looked on the internet and checked out that DMZ crap and that made no sense.
Why has it done this and why won't it go back to Open?
Note: It went from strict to moderate a few days ago, now it is strict again.
My cat was recently diagnosed with cancer (two large tumors of the liver and spleen). I realized that for far too long, he would sleep a lot in a chair that was near the wireless router (less than a foot away). He's 14 so he's not young, but still, I'm starting to think that the wireless router caused his tumors.

I live in a rural area and my nearest neighbor is probably about 2 acres (like 3-400 feet) away. Do I really need to have security enabled on my wireless router? All of the computers in the house have their own anti-virus/firewalls. I heard that the security on the router is just so other people can't use your internet, but with neighbors that far away, I don't think that's a problem.
I do already have WEP security because I thought I needed it so my Nintendo DS could get online. But now we got a laptop with Vista on it and it won't connect wirelessly. It's my brother's and he has already gone through a lot of research already to try to get it to connect. Now he thinks that it might be that Vista doesn't like WEP.
So it's come down to: Do we really need the security enabled? If so then we'll have to see if changing to WPA works.
Ive had a wireless linksys router for about 2 years now with no problems whatsoever, but all of a sudden its not letting me connect to the internet, even when Im connected with excellent signal. Ive tried resetting it and disabling then enabling the connection, but im NOT good with computer problems so i dont really know what else to do. Ive called linksys customer support and they said that i would have to pay them for an explanation/fix of my problem, which i really cant do.
As soon as I unplug the router Im redirected to another wireless connection(I guess a neighbors?), where I can access the internet, but the connection is poor and I want to use my own internet. As ive stated before, im not good with computers so, if you can help me, please explain using the "for idiots" version
