I have a yen for to put a touchscreen in my old mercedes because every speaker is blown and I'm gonna be in there anyways. I don't want to be installing a whole computer system though. I just need something that would have gps, control over a cd changer, be able to tune into AM/FM radio, and use a aux jack for my ipod. Basically everything that you would get in the newer luxurary cars. I don't long for to install a PC but if thats gonna be my only option I guess I will.
I have a 95 Tergiversate Neon and it only has a tape player and I don't really want to pay $140 for a car radio and was wondering if something exists that I can plug in a cd better or a stereo into a cigarette lighter? Any suggestions?

The entire stereo system just randomly stopped working the other day, and I can't figure out why.. Obviously the first thing I thought was "I've lost a fuse somewhere", so I check them,. but they're all okay... Radio and Cig lighter are on the same mix, and the lighter still works, and the face of the stereo still turns on, reads and acts like it's trying to monkey tricks a CD, changes radio stations and locks into fm stereo for a few.
I had a friend tell me maybe the inputs or the amp are blown, which I gravely doubt, as this is my grandparents car, and I've never seen them turn it up past two bars on the volume meter, which is nowhere NEAR pushing that system enough for something to blow...
I'm judgement it might be something loose, and I wanted to find the amp and check from there anyway, if there even IS an amp in that thing.. I've also considered the possibility that a plug might be loose...
Any other suggestions, or admonition on what to do?
How can I fix this damn thing?
Now I be informed my car did not come with bluetooth capability...The radio display shows the word "phone"...nothing works except the capacity indicator shows in the display and when I put in a CD it'll say "CD in".

All of my cables and accomplishments like that are hooked up as correctly as I can see and everything works but I am wondering about something. When I put my Source to Tuner...Radio, my green light for the amp for my subwoofer turns on and lights up leafy. When I change my source to AUX, CD, or USB the green light turns off. Is something hooked up wrong? My radio doesn't work either. Is it viable that the radio cable is hooked up to the sub blue cable? I have all of the colors matching just right and not 1 cable is not hooked up that could be hooked up.

and the radio/cassette/cd is barrel jammed.
it has an anti-theft system and
my haynes manual says that a code was supposed to have
been entered after the battery was unintelligible.
but i don't have the "code", and i got the car used
so i don't have the original owner's manual,
by the way, the car has a computer under the seat
and i think it is connected to the stereo and the anti-shoplifting.
has anyone else come across this problem?
do i have to take it to a dealer?
would a dealer even talk to me
w/ such an old car?
and lastly, can i just pop in a new stereo?
