The Philco Predicta television set, built from 1958-1960, has always been a glorious piece of modern design, but even the contemporary reproductions weren’t sufficiently functional to be much more than a fetish object in an already-crowded apartment.
This nifty ?Philco? computer ? by One Mod Predicta ? is a blast from the past ? made from an actual Philco Predicto TV set from the 1950?s.
If you recall the futuristic styling of the original vintage b&w Philco Predicta telvision with it classic design and swivel screen, you'll go ga-ga over Telstar's recreations of the original Predicta designs updated for modern viewing. Did you notice the sudden retro wave that's hit most ID designers? It's like they've gone nostalgic and strung an emotional cord with gadgets from the past. The Philco PC here is a prime example of such inspirations, totally reminiscent of the 1954 design classic Philco Predicta!

I just recently picked up this Predicta along with a great looking portable turquoise and white General Electric. I plan to have the base refurbished and figure out how to set it up to play DVDs of old black and white television shows.
