I have to choreograph my own lyrical dance and my theme is suppression/self-worth discovery. Basically I am trying to tell a story that starts with me being someones puppet and then I realize that I am independent, which is empowering. It's supposed to be all emotional and whatnot.
Anyway I need music ideas. And there are not allowed to be any lyrics because our dancing has to tell the story, not the lyrics.
Some of my ideas:
"Mad World" Donnie Darko
"High Hopes" Pink Floyd (I would have to shorten it)

Prog rock??????????????????????????????????????????????????

so, i wanna get into prog rock. 1st of all, what is prog rock exactly? i always thought it was like long ass songs, with more instrumental emphasis, and out of this world lyrics and sounds. what really characterizes prog rock/metal.
i'm really into pink floyd, ayreon and king's x, but i don't really know too many prog rock/metal bands, so could you give me some bands i should start with, and their album that i should get 1st?
Also, what's one album that just completely tripped you out, that brought you out of this world?

I would like to know who you guys like best Syd Barrett or David Gilmour. They are both amazing in their own ways but give me your opinions and what you like about each of their personally styles of music, and what you think they each did for Pink Floyd.

Here's my five favorite artist right now: MGMT, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed and Cambria, Pink Floyd, and The Flaming Lips. I like almost any genre and I want songs with GOOD lyrics.
