OK, griping about airport security is nothing new.

I generally don't like griping about what other people gripe about, but it seems the process could have been improved over the years as the U.S. Transportation Security Administration has grown.

Three months after 9-11, I was in the Honolulu airport in line to fly to the Big Island. Security had been racheted way up and that was understandable. After all, Israel has been doing this for decades.

Those of us in line had our carry-on bags checked as well as some rudimentary pat-downs. That happened to a mother and her daughter who was all of probably 7 years old. The girl was upset, but was calming down.
