I'm preparing a retirement party for my Dad this weekend, and I need to know how to get my usb microphone to play through my speakers (like an amp/pa system). I've looked all over, heard about Audacity, but I don't know how to use it.
I DO NOT WANT TO RECORD, ONLY OUTPUT so that his coworkers/guests can make toasts at his party.
The setup is going to be my laptop, playing mp3's, hooked up to a stereo with an auxiliary input through the audio output on the laptop.
I have Windows Vista, installed Audacity (if it will help?), and I do not have the same option as XP has to click on the audio mixer and simply turn on the microphone output.
Thanks!
This will probably give you what you need -and its a small, FREE prog.
I don't have windows vista but either way, the converter in the USB microphone will add latency. It will play about a second or two behind. Which may or may not be that big of a deal.
Basically when the electromagnetic signal is converted to 0's and 1's it will add a delay to the signal unless you spend money on good converters (which are never found in all in one USB mics).
I have to put the mic right in front of my lips for anyone to hear me over xbox live but when I send a message it's fine. I don't see an option in system settings so I don't know where else to look.
That seems to be for making other people louder not me.
Hi i'm studying sound engineering and music technology and i have to find pictures of microphones. I've never done this before and don't know what these microphones look like so i've been on the internet and got loads of pictures and when i put the cursor up to the picture of the microphone it's not the one i'm looking for. I need to find a picture of SENNHEISER ND409 dynamic i think it's a cardiod. Picture of a PZN pressure zone microphone electric condensor and Microtech Geffel-UM705 multi pattern condenser microphone. I hope i've spelt them right. If someone could send me picture of what they look like or a website i'd be grateful. Thanks.

hi all. i'm trying to transfer vinyl to mp3. i have a turntable, which is mains powered, with phono plugs (white & red) that are the output source. iv'e read i can connect the phono plugs to 3.5 jack plug and connect it to the microphone socket on my laptop. i done that and installed Audacity but when playing back the audio sounds like it is going in & out of a tunnel. am i connecting the turntable correctly or is this just not gonna work properly and i need to buy a USB turntable?
thanks in advance folks.
@ TC, sorry, but i dont know how to create an audio link :( the audio just sounds like its going in & out of a tunnel, i haven't messed with any of the settings on Audacity, i just hooked up the turntable installed Audacity and pressed record.

If you’ve had a class in any one of the University’s large lecture halls, there’s a good chance that you’ve encountered one of the most universal and persistent technological problems on campus — microphone failure. A microphone on the fritz can become anything from a slight nuisance to major class disruption, but either way, they’re an important enough piece of campus technology to warrant more attention.
In many cases, a microphone will either cut out completely near the beginning of class or worse, the professor will fail to turn it on in the first place. In less extreme instances, the microphone can be on, but it seems to be amplifying all the wrong sounds, such as “Ps” and “Bs” at the beginnings of words, while the rest of the speech remains completely inaudible. The resulting sound is essentially that of two bears fighting, which really doesn’t help to make the professor’s message any more clear.
