Im in the 9th grade and thinking about college and scholar ships and I've played the clarinet for a year and a half then recently switched to trumpet for the marching band. Ive heard about scholarships for the french horn and how I am more likely to get one rather than trumpet or clarinet. Would learning the french horn and taking lessons be worth it? Would it destroy my trumpet embouchure? Its the only one I like besides all the others people have suggested for scholarships like the basson. A full scholarship to a good college/university maybe? Is it hard to get a full scholarship. Serious answers only no links to scholarship survey sites.
@lollies the french forn seems very challenging I really like its sound, I would love to play it.
You have a seriously open mind. Most people who try out for music scholarships are like : piano, violin etc. I reckon you should learn the instrument that interests you, pops into your head. Maybe it could be your voice? But I reckon you should keep trying with the trumpet. Some musical instruments take years & years to master. If you start now you only have around 2 years with HSC coming up. It really isn't up to anyone to tell you which instrument you should play to get a scholarship. There is no point in doing something without a bit of fun. ;)

I play Bb clarinet in school. An E11 Buffet clarinet atm, and i want to play R13 because it's supposed to be a lot better. So the question is should i invest into getting an Eb, which is a clarinet i've always wanted to try playing, or should i upgrade my Bb. Basically what im asking is, is the Eb clarinet hard to play, and which is easier, the Bb or the Eb?
The one with the lower pitch will be easier to control, but I think you should go for the one you want since you obviously like playing. Give yourself a challenge.

Okay i have been searching EVERYWHERE for the notes to Rihanna's Disturbia but I can't find anything I dont have to buy. Does anyone have the close to full song's piano or clarinet or guitar notes?? I can use any of them for the piano. This will be REALLY helpful. Thanks! :D
I want to buy a new clarinet, and I have been looking at a Maybach clarinet. Is Maybach a good brand? If it's not, what's another good brand (that isn't super expensive)? thanks! :)

Orion Ensemble opens with flavorful semi-Spanish program
26.09.11
With a series of pieces exploring different facets of Spanish music, the Orion Ensemble kicked off its nineteenth season in a delightfully flavorful way Sunday night at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston. All musicians were in top form in a fairly adventurous program that ended with an undeniable bang — the combination of Khachaturian’s Clarinet Trio and Gaspar Cassadó’s Piano Trio.
The concert started on a somber note with a dedication to Keith Conant, principal violist of the Lyric Opera Orchestra and a mainstay of the Chicago music scene, who recently passed away from a heart attack at the age of 49. It was also a part of the Daniel Pearl Music Days, which seeks to bridge gaps and create channels of communication through musical performances around the world.

My parents recently retired. Mom always wanted to learn to play the piano, so dad bought her a piano for her birthday. A few weeks later, I asked how she was doing with it. "Oh, we returned the piano." said My Dad, "I persuaded her to switch to a clarinet instead.""How come?" I asked. "Because," he answered, "with a clarinet, she can't sing."

Albert or simple system clarinets are used for folk or jazz music and Boehm system clarinets for classical and band music. Bb is the most common pitch but some Aegean coast countries prefer lower pitched clarinets like Bulgarians in
Both schools retired and free the children asked to participate in a legal document. The children then set to music in a clique of merger or orchestra. The boys have a bias to go for the extravagant instruments such as drums or whatever they can "bang". On the other inexperienced girls often choose soft instruments more closely. Clearly, wood flutes and clarinets often become instruments of choice.

The Bass Clarinet is usually pitched an octave below the Soprano. Like the Alto Clarinet, it has a curved neck, straight body and an upturned bell, but is larger.
