I just burned some CDs, but when I listened to them in the CD player, some of the songs start sounding all scratchy and I hear a lot of static. Why are they doing this? The static usually starts a few tracks into the CD, then gets really bad after a few more tracks.
-It's not the CD player or the sound system, because it plays other burned discs and they sound just fine.
-It's not the quality of the discs, they're a mid-grade brand and other burned albums on the same type of discs sound fine.
-The burned discs are not dirty or scratched, they're brand new and have no scratches or dirt on them.
The discs are Sony CD-R's, burned with Windows Media Player 11. The CD burner is the default disk drive that comes in a Dell Inspiron 530. What could be the problem?

I have iTunes on my Mac, my wife and I are putting together a New years party. I've got the songs on i Tunes, there's some songs with long intros and outros that I want to cut out. I know how to do this on iTunes, no problem, but will my edits remain on the songs when I burn them to a CD? Also, I know you can crossfade on iTunes but it won't carry over to a burned CD, so is there a program for Mac that will let me burn songs to a CD with my crossfades and edited start/stop times?
The power supply failed on my desktop. I replaced it with a new one and turned the unit on with no problems. Used it one other time, then went to turn it on today and it starts, the fans all run, but there is not signal to the monitor. Also, no power to the keyboard or mouse. The tower has an LED in the power button that is green when on, and typically only turns orange when the computer is hybernating, but the light comes on as orange and stays that way. There are diodes on the motherboard that light up, and the CD drive light blinks briefly while an orange diode above the power button blinks a few times as well (it is next to a symbol of a cylinder with three lines coming from the top?) The power supply was a 350W and I replaced with a 400W, I tried to stay consistent with the voltage over the rails, but the +12v went from 10A to 25A, while the 3.3v and 5v stayed relatively the same. It has been suggested that the motherboard may have fried, but have been told that it should have happened immediately when I turned the unit on, not days later. I took a volt meter and checked the plugs and do get power readings on both the DVI and VGA outputs, which I use for the monitor. As well I get a really weak reading, but a reading none the less for the USB plugs I use for the mouse. In any case I will supply some more details on the computer in case they might be important, but any help would be appreciated. It's an old unit, but it was built tough an still was out performing my new laptop.
*I should mention as well that I did remove RAM during all this, but replaced the same sticks. There is a spare slot and I thought maybe I put them back in a different configuration than they were originally in, but I moved them back and forth and still the same problem.*
I just realized I don't know how to get info on the unit without being able to turn it on, so here's the little I know:
ASUS powered, AMD Sempron processor, 2X Kingston 512 PC3200, No sound card, onboard graphics, 60 GB HDD, Running the last update for XP Home edition. The computer is between 5 and 6 years old, and has been running on the Kingston RAM for about 4 years. There are three RAM slots on the motherboard, DIMM 1-3. The sticks are currently in 1 and 2, and the two sticks are identical. It also occurred to me after reading some discussion forums that I may have removed the SATA cable for the HDD to access the ram and possibly replaced a different plug in the sequence, but there is only one drive.
My assumption is this is something I did that caused the problem. I did remove the RAM between replacing the power supply and the failure. I was trying to match the sticks with some old RAM I found to see if they could be installed, they didn't match, so I put them back.
MAke sure everythin in plugged back in tightly includding the ram sticks.

I was at Citibank, the other day to ask about their rates beat CD. A possession that caught my r is that they do not pay higher rates on a CD-sized. To alert on a CD 5 years, the TRA is 1.25% (to 01/11/2010), you make $ 1000 or $ 100 000. Background years, a huge CD offered the best rate. Today, it is not always the lead in all cases. So let's take a look at the sudden oversized CD and see if they claim fits well with interest rates today.
