I am a sophomore in high school and I am in band. I play the saxophone and the flute and I am the oldest player in the saxophone section. Baritone saxophone music is very easy and alto saxophone music is not. My band director has a 7th grade boy on alto sax along with his freshman sister. I've made all region twice and gotten three 1st divisions in solo and ensemble contest. Every time I confront him about not wanting to play bari, he says "It makes the band sound good." While I agree that it does make the band sound good, I do not want to play baritone saxphone. the music is too easy for me and I get bored and disrupt class. The 7th grade alto player WANTS to play bari. I'm getting a soprano saxophone for Christmas and suggested having myself play the oboe music on it (we don't have an oboe and I can translate in my head) but all he said was, "I'm happy for you," and walked away!!! I'm at the end of my rope and actually thinking about quitting because I'm not challenged. WHAT SHOULD I DO????

I'm getting back into playing my alto saxophone that's been sitting in its case for years. I was wondering if it needs any upkeep or adjustments after sitting around for so long. Also, if anybody knows of any particularly good sites for free online sheet music I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
I play the alto and bari saxophone. I do not experience this problem when I play bari. Only when I play alto. Only after a few minutes of play, I start feeling an immense pain in my jaw, and its hard to keep playing. A few seconds after I stop, the pain disappears Why is this? Is the reed to soft? To hard?
Please Help.
Thanks :)

Sarah Wood to perform senior composition recital Oct. 10
10.10.11
Wood, a senior music theory and composition major from Dallas, Texas, composed all of the pieces performed during her time at Ouachita. Several Ouachita students and faculty members will participate in the recital as performers and instrumentalists.
Each of Wood’s compositions holds special significance for her. “ Every piece has a story,” she said. “It’s about the emotion and it’s about sharing the emotion and connecting through that.”
Starting the recital with “Escape” will be Emily Anderson, a sophomore Christian studies and Christian missions double major from Siloam Springs, Ark., on violin; Jacob Sturgeon, a sophomore choral music education major from Pine Bluff, Ark., on cello; and T.J. Bailey, a sophomore business administration major from Fort Smith, Ark., on piano. Carli Sasser, a sophomore choral music education major from Hamburg, Ark., will then perform “Desert,” a piece including words by Robert Frost.

I know the mindset of most beginners who start out looking for a cheap saxophone and see the prices of even the lower Yamaha models aren't as low as most other brand's lower models.

I played this representative after the M5 which has a cut baffle and is more like a harvest Meyer model valid. This agent had a significant reprimand in brightness from the M5. When you pencil-mark it up next to the M5 you can see that they are be like but that the V5 baffle is degree higher in the dawning and then rolls over to print the seemly of the M5 baffle. This excess apogee gives it no more than a bit more perforate and brightness to the investigate. I’d have to make believe all these shyster longer to see which one I attach with the most but this is a tremendous midriff of the approach sherd. Not as occult and bebop as the M5 but not as on the ball and amaze n’billow as the Z5. When I prick up one's ears to the crop I quality like it could go either way. It sounds able in a bebop in a beeline in advance make but can get by in a booming escarpment surroundings I think about.

I am the Oregon, Washington, British Columbia distributor for this new polycarbonate polymer saxophone. It weighs 30% less than a conventional brass sax. I will get some professionals to play a few tunes to show off the fabulous tone it produces and put them on flickr. Best regrds Lee Mason
