Hi everyone – Abject about the length but, please read on.
I'm a Venturer - Scout from QLD, Australia. I am interested in Micro-broadcasting at scouting events, camps etc. That run over the positively of a weekend etc.
So what I would like to do is broadcast music and other audio (recordings and live talk) on an FM frequency (FM because it is more commonly acclimated to and receiving quality is much better… [I hear]) over a “short distance.”
I have done a little into on this on the net and talked to a few people. What I would like to know is what equipment I would need. Also good entry level gear at good prices. Things like Transmitter & Antenna, Microphones, sound board/mixer. Appurtenances I do have is: PC, 3.5/6.35/6.5mm leads (male-male & male-female) and playback devices – IPod, CD players.
Of lecture I’m on a budget, so you know “On the cheap” what ever “Cheap” is in this area. (Don’t want to here “there’s no niggardly way” Give me the least expensive option, please.)
Though, I was wondering if it was possible to run a system with out a soundboard. The soundboard enables the operator to chosen from a number of inputs to broadcast… Does it not? Say with something like a 5 into 1 jack adapter? If they exist. Like a USB hub but for 3.5 or 6.35mm jacks?
I’ve announce about the Ramsey FM25B Synthesized FM Stereo Transmitter. Would this transmit within an 8km radius? Though, maximum distance required would be around 6km over mostly uneven footing with some dense trees. If not – Possible ways to extend the transmission. Signal amp, taller transmitting antenna?

There are entirely a few of these, and they vary in quality. Some quality (or lack of it) will depend on the number of FM stations broadcasting in your area. Freak, Belkin and MacAlly all make decent FM transmitters.

i've bought 3 particular brands for ipod to cassette adapters, NONE work. The stereo keeps switching sides from A to B repeatedly.
I found a "fix" where you take out the cog and rubberband and yes, it stops doing to side switching BUT, it ONLY plays on what would be side B. In called-for for the adapters to work (apparently) they have to play on side A. Any ideas? FM transmitter probably won't work cuz my antennae is busted and i only get a portable radio station about 2% of the time
This is starting to piss me off because no matter which one i use i get the same ridiculous result.
So i've tried 2 rare models and here's the result:
I put the cassette adapter in the tap deck, plug it into my ipod, turn both on and it starts playing the music and then a few seconds erudition it will make a click sound and the music will stop, then starts playing and click (repeat).
SO, anyone have the same unmanageable? Please offer solution, FM transmitter won't do.

We have 2 cars that we impecuniousness to hook the stereo up to an ipod. Since they only have cd players, and the fm transmitters don't seem to be consistent, I know in previous cars I just hooked a wire into the back of the car stereo that plugged into the headphone jack of the mp3 performer so it plays through the car stereo with no static, clear, etc.
Here is my question. I need to see if the cars we have have that option. I have a 2005 chevy malibu maxx hatchback (2 din stereo) and my the missis has a 1998 honda accord (2 din stereo). It needs to be something with a 3.5mm on the one end, so we can still charge our ipod in the car also.
