Should I buy a Playstation 3?

I was thinking about an XBOX Slim but i dont want to pay for Xbox live.

Questions;

1) Can PS3 slim fail like Xbox fails?
2) How long will the PS3 stay as the main console? (When is the next gen Ps4 coming out)
3) Is online play good for a normal gamer? Im not hardcore so i dont care about Xbox
4) Any problems / things i should know about

1. The PlayStation 3 failure rate was 10% according to a small 3rd party survey and less than 1% as confirmed by Sony. This is much better than the 54% according to the same survey and over 33% confirmed by Microsoft. The "Slim" models of both are both better than their originals in failure, but the new Xbox 360 still has the same disc scratching and overheating issues as the first.

2. The PS3 will remain in the market longer than the PS2 currently is, which is ten years - the second longest lasting console in history so far, right behind the PSOne (13 years) and still going. Sony wants the PS3 to last much longer than any other so they packed it with "future proof" features like Blu-Ray and an easily upgradable hardware. Not to forget, it is easy for Sony to update the firmware of the PS3 to run just as well as future consoles and more! Out of the Wii, PS3 and 360, the PS3 will last the longest.

3. Online play is fantastic for someone who isn't looking for a specific online service. It is free, has tons of features (a lot that you can't find on the 360) and much more. The service runs on dedicated servers compared to Xbox Live's P2P servers. Dedicated servers allow the developers to run the networks for their own games, which allows for a smoother experience.

4. There are really no big problems to worry about that get in the way of your playing. Not that I can think of at the moment.

PS3 are amazing.
1) they don't fail if you keep good condition of it
2) ive had mine for over 3 years ( ps4 not coming out at least 2015 more likely latter)
3) Online good for regulars and hardcore also depends on game
4) no problems

2 for a long time even wen ps4 comes out people will still play ps3 and the newest games will be on ps3 also even in 10 years it will still be played
3 online is the best on ps3 no doubt

Ps3 Pros:
1) Quiet
2) Motion sensitive controllers
3) You can use any Bluetooth headset, keyboard, mouse, etc....
4) Blu-ray
5) Lack of flashing lights on front of machine!
6) Built in wi-fi card
7) HDMI included
8) Free Online Community and Game Play
9) Tech support speaks english and appears to be located in America, they understood my name and my question.
10) Controllers come with built in rechargable battery and can be charged with any usb port.
11) easy to navigate menus
12) No ridiculous power brick, one cord, if you want to take your ps3 with you somewhere you only need the controller, the unit and the power cord.

Ps3 Cons:
1) No IR receiver, you can't use your regular universal remote to control the ps3 you need a bluetooth which means an extra remote.
2) Shape, this one sounds stupid, but the rounded shape of the ps3 really annoys me because you can't stack, say your wii, or even lay your remotes on top of the unit. (maybe you shouldn't do that anyhow LOL)
3) Less games, or at this point I guess the better point would be less games made for the ps3, instead of built for the xbox and ported to the ps3, this is however changing and in the future will be less of an issue.

A 120GB is fine, but there is a 250GB model too. Most games have an install requirement and that can range from a few MB to 3-4 GB. I have a 40GB so I have to constantly delete old install data to fit new games in.

As far as games go, depends on what you want to play. I can suggest something depending on what game genre you like.

And for an accessory, depends on what you will play. If you intend to play a lot of games online, get a headset. If you like to play splitscreen with friends, get another controller. If you like to play fighting games, maybe a fightstick is a good idea.

The champagne will rush full today at the headquarters of Sony because they revealed its sales figures for the last 12 months and for the first time they have exceeded sales of Microsoft's 28% since they released their new PS3 Slim .

Microsoft recently confirmed it had sold a 10.3 miliion powerful console of its fiscal year, and Sony confirmed yesterday that they had spent 14.3 million PS3s in the same patch. By far, the most advanced significnt Sony has more places to Microsoft since the launch of the PS3 in 2006.

Now we view the new Xbox Slim dissimilar to view the results for the money they have coming years saw a huge turnover of their new console rumor silent, but we will not identify until 2011 ....
