What is the best gear ratio for a F350 4x4 with 7.5L gas engine?

I have a 1997 F350 4x4 off road standard cab truck with the ZF 5-Speed manual, 32" tires, and 3.55 ratio gears- bought the truck about 2 months ago and it has under 20,000 original miles. It cruises at 2000rpm+/- at 70mph in overdrive, and seems to haul my 20" center console boat fine, but doesn't blow any doors off. I think the 3.55 ratio never had a place in a 1-ton truck, and I want to put a lower gear in it for better towing performance without bringing the 460 out of it's low-mid rpm range. Other than a performance exhaust, it has no other modifications but will see a full Banks kit in the future and a max tire size of 285 75r 15 (33"). The 4.10 ratio may be the best compromise around 2300-2400 cruising, but would a 4.30 at 2550rpm at 70 in overdrive be too much? The truck is not a daily driver and I want to take as good of care of it as possible. I envision having a 25-30foot boat within a year or so, and would like it to be better equipped for such a load.

How much does your boat weigh? With an overdrive transmission, I'd say that 4.10s are the way to go. If you're going up to 33 inch tires, 4.30's would put you at about the same RPMs as 32's with 4.10s. So that's something to keep in mind. The 460 has enough torque to do either really.

Is a 15hp Johnson 2 Stroke Ok For A 15 Foot Boat?

I am getting a older 15 foot hobie power skiff for free! The problem is it has no engine, but I have a 1987 Johnson 2 Stroke 15hp that I can put on it, will this motor even push the boat with 3 people in it? If so how fast with this 15ho go on a 15 foot fiberglass boat (v-hull NO center console) with 2-3 people in it?

I have a 2008 mercury 30hp 4-stroke efi that I purchased with a 15ft center console aluminum fishing boat. With 2 guys (approximately 190lbs each), and a couple of rods and gear, the boat flies (for a 30hp). I can reach 24-26mph and 5500rpm (trimmed). when I get 1 more person in the boat, the motor will not go above 3900 rpm and the speed won't even register on the speedo (below 10mph). I've tried gunning the throttle, slowly advancing the throttle, starting with a different tilts, I have plenty of fuel and I get the motor serviced twice a year. It's not that the engine is cold. It happens all the time. Does anyone have similar problems with this motor?

boat prop for water sports?

i have a boat the i've had in the ocean for years we recently moved to a lake and now want to begin using it for water sports such as wake boarding and skiing. the problem is the boat does not come up on a plane quickly. It is an 18 foot center console with a 150 hp mercury mariner on it so i know it is not underpowered. i was wondering if there's a prop or something else that i could put on the motor to make it come up on a plane more quickly. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Take the pitch down one notch and see if that helps. eg. if you are running a 21 take it down to a 19

Warning, watch your WOT rpm's, keep them within the manufacturers range.
