Mortimer is a party organiser and club promoter extraordinaire – and the man behind Boombox, the flamboyant club in Shoreditch, east London that some argue gave the capital’s fashion scene a much-needed boost.
‘Boombox was for outsiders,’ says Mortimer, although fashion’s hippest names, including Gareth Pugh , Kim Jones and Cassette Playa, were regulars. There wasn’t an entrance fee and the dress code was free-spirited. ‘I wanted it to be the kind of place anybody could come to if they had the right attitude,’ he says.
